The other "price tags" that the media ignore

http://elderofziyon.blogspot.nl/2012/06/other-price-tags-that-media-ignore.html

From Arutz-7:

Residents of the small agricultural community of Maor, east of Hadera, went to their synagogue Friday for morning prayers and were appalled to find that it had been vandalized overnight.

The vandals sprayed the walls of the building with the words of Muslim prayers, written in Arabic, and with praise for Mohammed, who Muslims believe was a prophet.

Last month:

Israelis who went to pray at an ancient synagogue near Jericho were appalled to find that the building had been vandalized. Swastikas and pro-Palestinian Authority slogans had been painted on the gate of the building and on an ancient mural.

The synagogue, in Naarin, has been desecrated in the past. However, residents of the region said, the latest incident shows that vandals have “crossed a red line.”

“The historic mural that was desecrated is an important testimony to our people’s history,” said heads of the Jewish community in the Jericho region. “A people that does not protect its past has no future.”

And deliberate arson attacks, seemingly by Arabs in the Jerusalem area have mushroomed:

A rash of suspected arson attacks in open areas around southeast Jerusalem has firefighters scrambling to find a way to stop the fires, believed to have been set by area youths.

In the month of May, firefighters dealt with 1,759 blazes in open areas around that part of the capital, according to Jerusalem Fire and Rescue Services spokesman Asaf Abras. Considering that the Jerusalem district usually deals with about 8,000 such events during the entire year, the number is staggering.

Abras said firefighters had opened 200 investigations into suspected cases of arson since May, and in half of the cases were able to positively identify the source of the fire as having been arson. Sometimes multiple fires are considered part of the same investigation.

Most of the blazes are around the Arnona, Armon Hanatziv, Jebl Mukaber and Sur Bahir neighborhoods. Abras said the fires were so frequent that firefighters often were called back to the same area less than 15 minutes later to deal with another outbreak.

But desecrating synagogues and setting fires aren't newsworthy when they are done by Arabs.

A Hamas victory at the UN Human Rights Council

http://www.jpost.com/Opinion/Op-EdContributors/Article.aspx?id=275195

By ANNE BAYEFSKY

06/25/2012 22:01

A Hamas-affiliated organization and its supporters held an "informal parallel meeting" promoting the destruction of the Jewish state.

The Obama administration's political and financial backing of the UN Human Rights Council resulted in another win for Hamas on Friday, June 22 in Geneva. A Hamas-affiliated organization and its supporters held an "informal parallel meeting" promoting the destruction of the Jewish state at the UN's Palais des Nations.

The event was advertised on the UN website and listed on an official UN document headlined "Human Rights Council, twentieth session, 18 June – 06 July 2012."

Opening week of the Council's latest session, therefore, featured both friends of Hamas sporting UN passes and championing an end to a Jewish state, and Obama's Ambassador (and former California fundraiser) Eileen Donahoe painting the Council as the place to be to promote and protect human rights.

In recent months, top Israeli officials have pleaded with their US counterparts to end American legitimization of the Council in light of its virulently anti-Israel record. In fact, this is the first Council session in which Israel's observer seat is empty. Instead, the Obama administration has doubled-down on its support for the UN body and continues to trumpet its decision to seek a second term on the Council at elections this fall.

Hamas and company have now calibrated team Obama's evident priorities to their advantage.

One of Friday's three speakers was Sameh Habeeb, head of the media department of the "Palestinian Return Centre." The event flyer, which clearly identified the Center as a "coorganizer" and named its representative as a speaker, was authorized to be posted at the UN conference room and distributed on UN NGO-reserved tables. And yet, as the Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center has documented, the Palestinian Return Centre is one of the central institutions through which Hamas operates in Britain.

Here is some of what Habeeb had to say while speaking in a UN room, at a UN-provided microphone, at a UN-advertised event associated with the UN's top human rights body: "In 1947, 1948 and 1949 the Palestinian refugees were ethnically cleansed by the Israeli gangs.... Some Arab armies came to Palestine to fight the Zionist project, which came from all over Europe to take over Palestine and to make it as a national home for the Jews, although it was always the national home for the Palestinians for thousands and thousands of years."

Habeeb, a well-known radical and "one state solution" campaigner, didn't come alone. Various publications of his Palestinian Return Center were made readily available on UN premises.

There was the pamphlet with this bigoted diatribe: "a racist ideology is inherent in political Zionism and... is being implemented as a political project by the state of Israel.

Political Zionism idealizes and advances a racist and chauvinistic... religion and nationalism."

And there was the map with the word "Palestine" splashed across the entirety of what is now Israel. Advocating the elimination of a UN member state, the most elementary violation of the UN Charter, is evidently acceptable literature in the belly of the UN human rights beast.

A third handout, entitled "Apartheid against Palestinians," analogized Israelis to Nazis: "The Israeli regime is based on... race and religious supremacy... Modern nation states formed through these corrosive ideals scarred the 20th century, including in Germany and the South African apartheid regime."

This is the second time in two consecutive sessions of the Human Rights Council that Hamas and its messengers have been allowed into the UN fold. At the last session of the Council in March, a Hamas member of the Palestinian Legislative Council, Ismail al- Ashqar, was given a UN pass, seated in a UN room at the invitation of a UN-accredited NGO, and permitted to speak at another Council "side-event." Though UN organizers issued the standard disclaimer about what is said during such events, applications to hold any such meeting are first vetted and approved by UN staff.

The raft of anti-Israel informal meetings during Human Rights Council sessions which have been approved, and the nonstop Israel-bashing emanating from the Council itself, are not mere ships passing in the night. Forty-one percent of all the resolutions and decisions of the Council condemning a specific state have been directed at just one country among all 193 UN members, namely, Israel.

Nevertheless, today the UN Human Rights Council's lead promoter is President Obama.

As November's election fast approaches, UN Ambassador Susan Rice has been commissioned to explain the troubling disconnect with American values to disaffected voters.

At a synagogue in Boca Raton, Florida last month, Rice lectured: the administration had made "meaningful progress... at the Human Rights Council." That is, some are more equal than others. She also tried this contortion: "there's an important distinction to understand. Israel gets singled out at the UN, not by the UN. When Israel gets marginalized and maligned, it's not usually because of the UN Secretariat.... It's usually because of decisions by individual member states."

Actually, the decisions to facilitate public speeches and the distribution of documents by Hamas and its cohorts alongside the Human Rights Council were made by the UN Secretariat. And the point is, UN bodies empower and magnify the pernicious decisions of their members.

In what is bound to become standard Democrat fare in the coming months, Rice summed up her UN pep talk this way: "Efforts to chip away at Israel's legitimacy have been met with the unflinching opposition of the United States."

Except with Obama's representative settled comfortably into her Council digs while the Israeli chair lies vacant, it is obvious to all that this White House has blinked.

PA TV host prays for Israel's destruction

From PalWatch:

Palestinian Authority television interviewed a Syrian journalist who claimed to have seen a top secret CIA memo from the Clinton administration. This CIA memo allegedly predicted that Israel would not survive beyond the year 2022. The PA TV host responded with a short prayer that this prediction should be fulfilled:  Watch it on YouTube

Syrian journalist, Al-Bujayrami: "What I'm going to say, no one has ever heard. A report was submitted by the American Central Intelligence Agency, the CIA, to former US President Clinton. It was written on the report: 'Eyes only.' 'Eyes only' means for the President's eyes only. No one else is allowed to see it."
PA TV host: "Top secret."
Al-Bujayrami: "It's more classified than 'top secret.' ... The CIA says [in this report]: 'If things continue as they are, we don't think that Israel will continue to exist after the year 2022...'"
PA TV host: "By Allah, from your mouth to Allah!"
[PA TV (Fatah), June 12, 2012]

I've seen this claim before, and tracked it down to that bastion of truth, Iran's PressTV.

The funny thing is that this report was supposedly written during the Clinton administration and claimed then that Israel would not last twenty more years. Well, it's been twelve years since the Clinton administration, and I haven't detected any weakening. I guess they padded the year to 2022 because 2019 seemed a little unrealistic.

Then again, the CIA did once predict that the Jewish state could not possibly survive.

The track record of the many who have made that prediction over the years is approximately 0.00%.

From this place, I bring you glad tidings: The officers of the class graduating today will become the Police Chief of Jaffa, the Police Chief of Haifa, the Police Chief of Akko, the Police Chief of Lod, the Police Chief of Ramle, and of all other places.

Therefore, from this place, we declare to all those who usurped our lands that they must prepare to leave, because we have prepared for Jihad. You are going to leave, while we are summoned to battle. We are the owners of this land.

This is an opportunity for you to study at our academy how to defend our battlefront and how to be soldiers of Allah. We will not be the soldiers of the US, of the Zionists, or of the hypocrites. We are determined to proceed along the path of Allah.

Those "civilian" Hamas police...

http://elderofziyon.blogspot.nl/2012/06/those-civilian-hamas-police.html

Remember the Goldstone Report? The biased UN report took pains to claim that the police of Gaza should be considered civilians and not terrorists or militants. I debunked it here and here.

Well, Goldstone and the other "human rights" organizations are proven wrong again.

Hamas held a ceremony for police graduates where it was made very clear that the goal of the police is anything but civil:

Announcer: Now that we have heard the song of the men, here is a little Palestinian girl, a flower of Jerusalem, who insisted on participating in this ceremony. Rawan is the daughter of one of the officers at the Palestinian police academy. Please welcome Rawan Khilla, who will recite what she has to say, the words on which she was raised.

[…]

Rawan KhillaGlory explodes in your bodies, and eternal life is guaranteed for martyrdom-seekers.

[…]

Fathi Hammad, Hamas Minister of the Interior and of National Security: Allah says: “Prepare for them what force and steeds of war you can.” The Prophet Muhammad says: “Prepare for them what force you can. Force means shooting.” The Prophet Muhammad also says: “Lands shall be thrown open to you, and Allah will protect you, but none of you should give up playing with his arrows.”

None of you should give up playing with all the tools of force and equipment, which will bring us closer to our aspirations: Jerusalem, the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Haifa, Akko and Jaffa.

[…]

From this place, I bring you glad tidings: The officers of the class graduating today will become the Police Chief of Jaffa, the Police Chief of Haifa, the Police Chief of Akko, the Police Chief of Lod, the Police Chief of Ramle, and of all other places.

Therefore, from this place, we declare to all those who usurped our lands that they must prepare to leave, because we have prepared for Jihad. You are going to leave, while we are summoned to battle. We are the owners of this land.

[…]

We say: There shall be no reconciliation with secularism. There shall be no reconciliation with any path other than that of Islam.

[…]

This is an opportunity for you to study at our academy how to defend our battlefront and how to be soldiers of Allah. We will not be the soldiers of the US, of the Zionists, or of the hypocrites. We are determined to proceed along the path of Allah.

Therefore, dear brothers, we speak with conviction. Some might say: You are talking as if victory is imminent. Yes, victory is imminent. Victory is ours, and disgrace will be the lot of all the hypocrites, who agreed to be the shoes on the feet of the Zionists and the Americans.

Indeed, victory is coming. Victory is imminent.

This isn't a police force - it is an army.

But "human rights" organizations will always refuse to see the truth in their zeal to crucify Israel.

Iran's Vice President Makes Anti-Semitic Speech at Forum

By THOMAS ERDBRINK

Published: June 26, 2012

TEHRAN — Iran's vice president delivered a baldly anti-Semitic speech on Tuesday at an international antidrug conference here, saying that the Talmud, a central text of Judaism, was responsible for the spread of illegal drugs around the world.

European diplomats in attendance expressed shock. Even Iranian participants in the conference, co-sponsored by Iran and the United Nations, privately wondered at their government's motive for allowing such a speech, even given its longstanding antagonism toward Israel. More than 25,000 Jews live in Iran, and they are recognized as a religious minority, with a representative in Parliament.

The speech by Vice President Mohammad-Reza Rahimi seemed bound to isolate Iran further just days before a new set of onerous Western economic sanctions, notably a European embargo on Iranian oil, is set to be enforced because of the longstanding dispute over Iran's nuclear program. Iran says the program is peaceful, and Western nations and Israel suspect it is a cover to develop the ability to make nuclear weapons.

Mr. Rahimi, second in line to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, said the Talmud teaches to "destroy everyone who opposes the Jews."

The "Zionists" are in firm control of the illegal drug trade, Mr. Rahimi said, asking foreign dignitaries to research his claims. "Zionists" is Iran's ideological term for Jews who support the state of Israel.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran will pay for anybody who can research and find one single Zionist who is an addict," Mr. Rahmini said. "They do not exist. This is the proof of their involvement in drugs trade."

What made his remarks even more striking is that Iran's fight against illegal drugs is one of the few issues on which the Islamic republic can count on Western sympathy. Iran's battle to stop the flow of drugs coming in from neighboring Afghanistan has often been mentioned as a potential field of cooperation during negotiations over the country's nuclear program.

Several Iranian ministers gave politically neutral briefings on the impact of the drug trade on the country. Antonio De Leo, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes representative in Iran, praised the Islamic Republic as a "key strategic partner in the fight against drugs."

Mr. Rahimi, who spoke after Mr. De Leo, told stories of gynecologists' killing black babies on the orders of the Zionists and claimed that the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917 was started by Jews, adding that mysteriously no Jews died in that uprising.

He also said the Talmud teaches Jews to think they are a superior race. "They think God has created the world so that all other nations can serve them," he said. Halfway through his speech, Mr. Rahimi said there was a difference between Jews who "honestly follow the prophet Moses" and the Zionists who are "the main elements of the international drugs trade."

A European diplomat said afterward: "This was definitely one of the worst speeches I have heard in my life. My gut reaction was: why are we supporting any cooperation with these people?"

But the diplomat, who declined to be identified by name or country, defended his presence at the conference. "If we do not support the United Nations on helping Iran fight drugs, voices like the one of Mr. Rahimi will be the only ones out there," he said.

VP Blames Zionists, Talmud for Growing Drug Trade in World

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian First Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi condemned Zionists for inciting global drug trade and addiction in a bid to annihilate non-Jewish communities in accordance with Talmudic teachings.

Addressing a ceremony on the occasion of the International Day of Drug Abuse here in Tehran on Tuesday, Rahimi stated that prevalence of narcotics and drug-addition throughout the world finds its roots in the wrong teachings of the Zionists' religious book, Talmud.

The Talmud (Hebrew: "instruction, learning") is a central text of mainstream Judaism in the form of a record of rabbinic discussions pertaining to Jewish law, ethics, philosophy, customs and history.

"The book teaches them how to destroy non-Jews so as to protect an embryo in the womb of a Jewish mother," Rahimi stated.

The Iranian vice-president said that the Zionists' direct involvement in the prevalence of illicit drugs is while "you cannot find a single addict among the Zionists"….

http://www.cidi.nl/Nieuwsberichten/PERSBERICHT-CIDI--herdenk-bij-de-Olympische-Spelen-de-slachtoffers-van-Mnchen.html

WO 27-06-2012

http://www.niw.nl/burgemeester-van-mokum/

Suspects, also accused of desecrating Ammunition Hill memorial with anti-Zionist graffiti in April, arrested after lengthy undercover investigation.

The Judea and Samaria District Police arrested three ultra-Orthodox men overnight Monday on suspicion of desecrating the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial with anti-Zionist slogans two weeks ago.

For two months, the police have been conducting an undercover investigation of the three suspects, aged 18, 26, and 27, leading up to their arrest. The three will be brought into court for an extension of their remand on Tuesday afternoon.

The three men, accused of vandalizing the Yad Vashem memorial with more than 10 anti-Zionist slogans, are also suspected of spray-painting anti-Zionist graffiti at various locations at Jerusalem's Ammunition Hillmemorial site in April.

During the arrest, police found spray cans, Palestinian flags, and computer documents suspected of being "incitement against the state."

Despite the fact that the three men are residents of Jerusalem, Bnei Brak, and Ashdod, the investigation was carried out by the Judea and Samaria District since the first incident occurred in the Jordan Valley.

Two weeks ago, anti-Zionist slogans were spray-painted at the entrance to the Israel's Yad Vashem museum.

At least 10 slogans were found on the walls outside the museum, with slogans such as: "Hitler, thank you for the Holocaust", "If Hitler did not exist, the Zionists would have invented him", and "Zionists! You declared war on Hitler in the name of the Jewish people, you brought upon the Holocaust."

Some of the slogans were signed with the words, "The World Zionist Judaism."

In April, graffiti was found at various locations at the Ammunition Hill memorial site in Jerusalem. The graffiti included slogans slamming President Shimon Peres, as well as praise for German poet Gunter Grass. The slogans that were found included: “The evil Zionist regime will fall,” and “Gunter Grass – be strong and brave.”

MP Mensch said the BBC’s decision not to include the story as part of its rolling news coverage generated “the most reaction I have ever had in all my time in politics."

"I was overwhelmed by response from the Jewish community both here and abroad. There was a feeling the BBC just didn’t care and that, if a settler had entered the home of a Palestinian family, slit the throat of their children, that the BBC would have covered that."

British network failed to mention brutal murder of Fogel family in broadcast. Now outgoing director admits BBC 'got it wrong'

Better late than never: A year and three months after the massacre of five members of the Fogel family in Itamar, the BBC's outgoing director-general admitted that they "made a mistake" in the story's coverage.

In March 2011, Hakim Awad and his cousin Amjad Awad brutally stabbed to death five members of the Fogel family: Father Ehud, 36, mother Ruth, 35, Yoav, 11, Elad, 4, and four-month old Hadas.

The story was featured on BBC's Radio 4 and the BBC's website but was not mentioned in broadcast.

Conservative MP Louise Mensch made various complaints to the network about the coverage and received an apology from BBC News’s Helen Boaden. She did not stop there and sought an explanation from outgoing director Mark Thompson at a Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee hearing last week.

Thompson said the story had come during a "very busy news period" including the fighting in Libya and the tsunami in Japan.

"News editors were under a lot of pressure," he said. "Having said that, it was certainly an atrocity which should have been covered across our news bulletins that day."

Nevertheless, he added: "I don’t believe that should be taken as systemic bias. We try very, very hard… to reflect suffering on both sides of that conflict. When there has been a humanitarian incident in Gaza, we try to show the effects of rockets in Sderot."

He said he stood by his decision not to have shown a humanitarian appeal for Gaza during Operation Cast Lead. "I believe I was right, many people thought I was wrong. It might have given the impression we were more sympathetic to one side of that dispute than the other. Israel and Palestine, like Kashmir and Sri Lanka, are so hot in terms of people’s sensitivity.

"But I do want to say, to all our audience including our Jewish and Israeli audiences here and around the world, we do want to make sure we are fair and impartial. We made a mistake in this instance."

MP pleased with apology

MP Mensch said the BBC’s decision not to include the story as part of its rolling news coverage generated “the most reaction I have ever had in all my time in politics."

"I was overwhelmed by response from the Jewish community both here and abroad. There was a feeling the BBC just didn’t care and that, if a settler had entered the home of a Palestinian family, slit the throat of their children, that the BBC would have covered that."

MP Mensch said after the meeting that she was extremely pleased with Thompson’s response. "I was very satisfied with his frank admission, He understood how this had affected the Jewish community."

Yesha Council spokesman Ronny Arazi was less enthusiastic. "The conduct of media outlets that had posted similar horror images from Gaza in those days certainly raised question marks as far as the objectivity of global media in covering the Israeli-Arab conflict.

"The BBC's apology is in place. All systems should constantly check themselves, not just about the terrible massacre in Itamar and not just overseas."
